BRITISH DOUBLE REED SOCIETY
The British Double Reed Society is a non-profit-making organisation established to further the interests of all involved with the oboe and bassoon. The BDRS acts as a national forum for debate and the exchange of ideas, information and advice on all aspects of double reed instruments. It also fulfils an important rôle in encouraging greater interest in the instruments, and securing their place in the wider cultural and educational environment.

Founded in 1988, the British Double Reed Society wants to promote and enhance the interests of all double reed players, whether students, amateurs, professionals or teachers. Thanks to the efforts of the prime movers, George Caird and William Waterhouse, the BDRS has flourished and continues to grow, offering a widening range of valued services to its members as well as providing a forum for the interchange of expertise, knowledge and opinion on all matters relating to double reed instruments.

Membership benefits are:
- Double Reed News
A comprehensive quarterly magazine with news and information from around the world including: historical and technical articles; profiles of players; help columns; advice for students of all ages; reviews and classified adverts.
- The Annual Convention
recitals, masterclasses, workshops, seminars, reed-making and a wide selection of trade stands.
- Regional Conventions
providing members with the benefits of the Annual Convention in more remote parts of the country.
- Concessionary Discounts
on accessories, music and instrument insurance from well-known suppliers.
