25 August to 2 September. Last year’s Laus Polyphoniae Festival was dedicated to Franco-Flemish polyphony. This year 22 concerts spread over 9 days will explore the monophonic and polyphonic French repertoire from its earliest beginnings to approximately 1600. |

| The 2007 Edinburgh International Festival runs from 10 August to 2 September. Begun in 1947, the Edinburgh Festival is now one of the world’s leading cultural celebrations, with a diverse programme and a rich fringe. This is the first festival planned under the new Artistic Director, Jonathan Mills, and it includes a healthy strand of early music. |

30 August to 2 September. The city of Cáceres will play host to the eighth Spanish Early Music Festival from 30 August to 2 September. The festival has been pushed forward to the last week of August this year so that music and musicology students can take part in the master classes and lectures scheduled to take place. |

1 September to 13 October. The long and complex musical history of Picardy began with the building of its cathedrals. These extraordinary edifices became musical centres whose grandeur rapidly equalled that of the buildings. The first French choir school was founded at Amiens Cathedral in 1324. |

| This CD presents a series of Symphoniæ (i.e., sonatas) and motets by Nicolaus à Kempis (c1600-1676), one of the most prominent Flemish composers of the 17th century. Philippe Beaussant, in the CD booklet, characterises Kempis’ style as a combination of Italian virtuosity and Nordic rigour. |

From 14 September until 29 November, the Estense Musical Association is holding the 10th year of its Early Music Festival in the host cities of Módena, Carpi, Mirandola, Sassuolo and Vignola. With the title 'Grandeur and Wonders', 20 concerts and other events are scheduled, and highlights include the presentation, in conjunction with REMA, of seven young groups specializing in early music and hailing from Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain and Sweden. |

The Greenwich International Early Music Exhibition and Festival takes place over the weekend of 9–11 November 2007 in the historic setting of the Old Naval College, now home to Trinity College of Music in London. The exhibition brings together a wide cross section of early music instrument makers from around the globe, shops, music publishers, societies, record companies and early music fora. |
