The 2007 Berliner Tage für Alte Musik, held at the Konzerthaus Berlin, runs over the weekend 26–28 October. The venue itself is wreathed in history, having once been the Berlin Schauspielhaus, which saw the premiere of Weber’s Die Freischütz, highly successful performances by Liszt and Paganini, Wagner conducting the Flying Dutchman, and the Berlin premiere of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9. |

The Latin texts –mostly by Arnulf van Leuven (d. 1250)– are reflections on the body parts of the crucified Christ; they express the believer’s love for Christ, and the desire for salvation, using unabashedly physical imagery. |
