He wrote a notable colection of tablatures (notation system of the vihuelists), the Six Books of the Delphin of music on tablature for playing vihuela, that includes a large number of fantasies, variations and transcriptions for vihuela of vocal pieces, published in Valladolid in 1538.
These works show an extraordinary mastery of the art of variation. Nárváez also published two books of Motets in 1539 and 1543 in Lyon, France.
