   MARTIN HASELBÖCK
Distinguished both as an organist and as a conductor, Martin Haselböck studied the harpsichord, organ, composition and conducting in Vienna and Paris.

Already well-known as the winner of numerous organ prizes and competitions, he then embarked on an international solo career, with a concert schedule that regularly takes him to major music festivals and includes collaboration with leading symphony orchestras.

He has appeared as a soloist under distinguished conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel and Riccardo Muti and has made over sixty recordings ranging in repertoire from Bach to Liszt, and to contemporary composers. Works dedicated to him include the two organ concertos of Ernst Krenek.

Since 1985 Martin Haselböck has been Music Director of the Wiener Akademie Orchestra, a period instrument ensemble that gives a regular series of Viennese classical music concerts in the Vienna Musikverein and performs frequently in Japan, Paris, Madrid, Cologne, Milan, Moscow and the United States. He has conducted many operas, including a series of the major Mozart operas in Germany and Prague.

As conductor of the Wiener Akademie Martin Haselböck has recorded some forty CDs with works by Bach, Mozart, Haydn and Schubert, with a recent series of ten CDs commemorating five hundred years of Vienna Court Music.

His recording awards include the Liszt Award of 1986, the Diapason d'Or and the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis. In 1997, he was awarded the highest Austrian Cultural Award by the State President.
