   SAMUEL MAGAD
A native Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra concertmaster made his first solo appearance with the orchestra before he was 11.

Appointed to the Orchestra by Fritz Reiner, Sir Georg Solti named him concertmaster in 1972. Magad is the founder, director and conductor of the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra (his wife is the artistic director) -- named the 1997 Illinois Orchestra of the Year by the Illinois Council of Orchestras.
Magad also plays with the Chicago Symphony String Quartet, the Chicago Symphony Chamber Players, and has been concertmaster of the Aspen Music Festival for over a decade. He plays a 1729 Guarnerius del Gesu violin.
