   ELIZABETH WALLFISCH
Elizabeth Wallfisch is a naturally authoritative artist who directs orchestras from the violin in Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Modern styles from an instrument of the appropriate period.

Her expertise in directing music - particularly of the classical period - from the instrument, score on stand, is unrivalled as is communication with all sections of the orchestra due to her demonstrable abilities as a superb instrumentalist, her personality and her matching musicianship.

In over twenty years experience she has directed orchestras all over the world, including the Britten-Pears Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Hanover Band, Raglan Baroque Players and Parley of Instruments in the UK, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and Camerata of Athens in Europe, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, as well as the American Bach Soloists, the Brandywine Baroque and the orchestras of the Boulder Bach Festival and Carmel Bach Festival in the USA.

In her native Australia she has directed the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Queensland Philharmonic, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, the Academy of Melbourne and the Brandenburg Orchestra of Australia.

Elizabeth Wallfisch's repertoire centres upon Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Mendelssohn, together with many other composers of that era and influence, such as JC and CPE Bach, JM Kraus, Kozeluch, and Myslivecek, with a group of composers - Arne, Abel, Wesley and Linley - who were prominent in Britain over the same period.

Her repertoire moves forward from here to the likes of Paganini, Spohr and Viotti, but stretches back to encompass orchestral and choral works by JS Bach, Handel and Telemann and to include composers like Purcell, Biber, Pisendal and Heinichen and the Italians Corelli, Pergolesi, Geminiani and Locatelli. The 20th Century is represented by Richard Strauss, Stravinsky and Shostakovich with the inclusion of the contemporary Australian composers Peter Sculthorpe and Esther Rofe.

Recent engagements have included her début with MDR Orchestra Leipzig performing the Myslivecek Concerto and directing from the violin, Handel Concertos with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Vivaldi's L'Estro Armonico with Les Musiciens du Louvre, concertos with the Netherlands Bach Society, and in St Gallen Switzerland and at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden and her debut with Tafelmusik, Toronto.

Elizabeth has a long and impressive discography which represents her versatility as a soloist, director and chamber musician. Her recording plans include works by Buxtehude for Hyperion Records and Telemann Concertos for CPO Records.
