He has given harpsichord and organ recitals as well as master classes in nearly every European country and in Canada, the United States, Brazil and Japan. Among his numerous recordings are the complete harpsichord works of Couperin and Rameau, and the Suites and Partitas, Goldberg Variations and Well-tempered Clavier of Bach.
He has edited for various publishers the organ works of François Couperin, Bach's Goldberg Variations, Frescobaldi's and Rossi's Toccatas, as well as the complete keyboard works of D'Anglebert, François Couperin, Rameau and Domenico Scarlatti. He is currently preparing a keyboard edition of the lute and theorbo music of Kapsperger.
A frequent jury member for the International Harpsichord Competition of Bruges, as well as for those of Paris, Munich, Edinburgh, Washington, Warsaw and Prague, Kenneth Gilbert has been successively professor of harpsichord at the Royal Conservatorium of Antwerp, the Stuttgart Musikhochschule, the Paris Conservatoire and the Salzburg Mozarteum.
He holds summer courses at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the International Summer Academy Mozarteum in Salzburg, and is currently Visiting Professor of Harpsichord at both the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, and Adjunct Professor at McGill University, Montreal.
He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Music from McGill University in Montreal, is an Officer in both the Order of Canada and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France, and has received the Austrian Cross of Honour First Degree. He is an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Music and of the Royal Society of Canada.
