   BARRY SARGENT
A baroque violinist and violist born in the United States, he currently lives in Palma de Mallorca, where he is very active as a soloist, and at the same time works with leading orchestras and European chamber groups.

He began his musical education under Sigmund Effron. At the age of fifteen, he played as soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, where he later became concertmaster.

He graduated brilliantly from Oberlin, obtaining High Honours.

In Paris, he studied under Gérard Poulet and came into contact with Christoph Coin, who invited him to play with the Emsemble Mosaiques, going on later to study with Monica Huggett.

He has been concertmaster with groups such as Les Arts Florisants, conducted by William Chistie and first violin with Hesperion XX conducted by J.Savall. He works regularly with Nicolas Harnoncourt, Frans Brüggen, Ton Koopman, etc., and has taught on music courses in Salamanca, Mijas, Cadiz and Paris.

Today, he is first violin with the group Al Ayre Español under Eduardo López Banzo, of the William Byrd Consort with Graham O’Reilly and of the Seminario Musicale with Gerard Lesne.
