Before coming to Chicago, Clevenger was a member of Leopold Stokowski's American Symphony Orchestra and principal horn of the Kansas City Philharmonic.
He played on the Chicago Brass Ensemble's Grammy Award-winning recording of Gabrieli's Canzoni for Brass Choir, a Grammy-winning set of Mozart & Beethoven piano quintets (with Daniel Barenboim), and a Record of the Year Award from Hungary. Also, check out his performance of Brahms' Horn Trio, which was recorded for television & CD (with Barenboim and Itzhak Perlman) by Sony Classical CD.
The Winnetka resident has been music director of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra for 14 years (in 1985 he received an honorary music doctorate from Elmhurst College). His wife, Alice, is also a horn player. BFA, Carnegie Mellon University.
