   ALEX ALGUACIL
Alex Alguacil enjoys a growing career as a recitalist, soloist and chamber musician. He has performed in North America, Europe and Asia, being always praised and critically acclaimed. Born in Sabadell (Barcelona), he received his musical education in the Conservatory of Sta. Coloma de Gramenet and the Conservatory of Barcelona.

In 2003 he moved to New York City and earned his Master’s Degree at Manhattan School of Music.His musical talent has been recognized with several first prizes in piano competitions such as the Joseph and Rosalind Stone international piano competition, Ricard Viñes international piano competition, Vilafranca del Penedès, and Marisa Montiel piano competition.

Mr. Alguacil performs regularly in recital as well as with Symphonic Orchestra. He has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philarmonic Orchestra and Vallès Symphony Orchestra among others. In May 2007 he will make his début with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra performing Prokofiev’s 3rd piano concerto in L’ Auditori of Barcelona under the baton of Jacques Mercier.

As a chamber musician Mr. Alguacil has been awarded with the first prize in the Arjau Chamber Music Competition in Barcelona for his piano-clarinet duo with Kristina Totos. He has also contributed as an accompanist and coach in the première of the contemporary opera "Eco" by Philippe Vallet at the "Mercat de les Flors" in Barcelona, and the concert version of Ariadne auf Naxos to be performed in New York’s Merkin Hall, organized by World Art Ist International. In 2003 he was invited as a juror in the 8th Ricard Viñes International piano competition sharing tribune with pianists such as Yonty Solomon, Peter Bithell and Josep Maria Colom.

Currently Mr. Alguacil resides in New York City where he is an active and freelancer coach, accompanist and performer.
