   ENSEMBLE GOTHIC VOICES
Founded by Christopher Page in 1980, Gothic Voices is firmly established as one of the world’s leading medieval ensembles. The group’s Gramophone award-winning debut recording ‘A Feather on the Breath of God - Hymns and Sequences by Abbess Hildegard of Bingen’ is widely held to be one of the most successful records of pre-classical music ever made.

Gothic Voices performs regularly at the Wigmore Hall, and the South Bank Centre in London and at major festivals both in the UK and abroad. Following an acclaimed US debut in Berkeley, California 1992, Gothic Voices has returned to the USA and Canada several times with concerts in California, Texas, New York, Vancouver and Toronto.

During recent seasons Gothic Voices has performed at the Edinburgh and Cheltenham International Music Festivals, and has toured extensively in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Slovenia and Switzerland and throughout Britain.

Gothic Voices has to date released twenty-one CD recordings for Hyperion, resulting in three Gramophone awards and a steady stream of the highest praise from the critics. Some of the more recent discs represent a new departure for the group, exploring the rich repertoire of the fifteenth-century mass. Their latest release -The Earliest Songbook in England- is an anthology of monophonic and polyphonic songs, many of them for the Christmas season, dating from around 1200 and saved by chance through their re-use as flyleaves for another book.
