The members draw on a wide variety of ensemble and solo experience in such groups as the King's Noyse, Apollo's Fire, The Washington Bach Consort, Lyra Concert, Newberry Consort, Kammerensemble Luzern, and with artist Marion Verbruggen. In performance, Belladonna creates an extraordinary chemistry that the Boston Globe called "as fresh as jazz." The quartet was featured on the nationally-syndicated radio program Harmonia, and has been heard on National Public Radio stations WGBH-Boston, KSJN-St. Paul, and WCAL-Northfield.
In 1998, the ensemble was a finalist in the Early Music America-Dorian CD competition, and in 1999 they released their first CD, Folias Festivas. Belladonna was invited in 2001 to encore their 1994 Brazilian tour itinerary, which drew capacity crowds. A young emerging ensemble with a powerful yet playful musical energy, Belladonna shines prominently through the vast constellation of period bands.
As artists-in-residence for The Schubert Club, Belladonna performs annually in Saint Paul on The Schubert Club's Early Music Series.
