In 1994 the Academia Montis Regalis first brought together period instrument musicians with the goal of creating an orchestra to perform both Baroque and Classical repertoire, something which was lacking in Italy's 'new wave'. |
For years they worked with renowned guest conductors (Jordi Savall, Christopher Hogwood, Ton Koopman, Sigiswald Kuijken, etc.), gradually perfecting the ensemble. Since 1999 Alessandro De Marchi has acted as principal conductor, further reinforcing the group's image as an orchestra distinguished by its youthful vivacity, masterful virtuosity and stylistic clarity. Its tours and many recordings (all for Opus 111) have conquered both the public and the press throughout Europe and overseas.
