The group seeks to reconstruct not only an authentic performance style, but also create a moment of particular inspiration. Their ambition is to combine research and musicology with creativity and spontaneous music-making, inspired by a subjective vision of the experimental outsider Hieronymus Kapsberger.
The "Kapsberger Group" considers the European concert tradition inherited from the 19th-century as not always suitable for early-Baroque court music. Because the social context in which Kapsberger's music was composed and performed has obviously disappeared, the Group experiments with different concert forms for ultimate communication of the music itself. This is why their performances of Kapsberger's music tends to be unpredictable, containing elements of improvisation, movement and gestures rather than traditional ceremonial concert rites.
