Initially acting as chamber choir of the Protestant church community of Mülheim/Cologne. Chorus Musicus soon developed a nationwide reputation for its inspired historical interpretations, high virtuosity, beauty of sound and pure intonation.
The chorus’ repertoire reaches from baroque to 20th century music and focuses on rarely performed compositions. Chorus Musicus Köln has worked with guest conductors such as James Conlon , with whom they recorded Zemlinsky’s Works for Chorus, and Reinhard Goebel, with whom they recorded Handel’s "Marienkantaten".
Further projects were conducted by Gert Albrecht, Gianluigi Gelmetti and Philip Herreweghe. Chorus Musicus Köln established its reputation with numerous concerts at international festivals and through awarded recordings, both under the baton of Christoph Spering and others.
