10 CDS FOR A DESERT ISLAND: HOPKINSON SMITH
Hopkinson Smith
Hopkinson Smith first studied musicology at Harvard, and from 1973 studied in Europe with Emilio Pujol, Eugen Dombois, and Jordi Savall, with whom he has collaborated for more than ten years.

From the mid-1980s he has concentrated specifically on the lute, vihuela, baroque guitar, and theorba repertory.

His many recordings on Auvidis Astrée have allowed us to rediscover the Spanish vihuelistas, the French baroque composers of lute music, and the works for lute by Weiss and Bach.
