Annual programme of the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla
05-03-2004
Throughout this year 2004 the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla will travel around Spain offering its programmes accompanied by important Spanish soloists such as Carlos Mena, Nuria Rial or Marta Almajano.

In the month of March the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla will perform in Zamora, Pamplona, Huelva, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Sevilla y Madrid. The orchestra, conducted sometimes by Pablo Valetti and in other occasions by Eduardo López Banzo, will have the collaboration of countertenor Carlos Mena in some of its performances. The Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla March concerts will be based on three different programmes; one by Vivaldi and Haendel; another one by Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Geminiani, and Boccherini; and the third one based on works by Haendel.

During the month of April the Orchestra will perform a programme based on works by Vivaldi and Haendel in León and Santiago de Compostela. In May only one performance will be offered. On May 23rd the Orchestra, directed by Jacques Ogg, will perform at the Theatre Lope de Vega in Seville, featuring works by Corelli, Fux, Muffat, and Campra.

In June, the Orchestra will perform four times in Andalusia, under the baton of Director-Concertino Monica Huggett. During that month the group will perform a programme entitled 'Biber and his social setting in the 300th anniversary of his death', in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Seville and in a place still to be determined.

The activity of the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla will decrease in July and August, since only three concerts have been organised for these months, in Huelva and Santander. In these three occasions, Director-Concertino Pablo Valetti will conduct the orchestra. In November, the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, directed by Eduardo López Banzo and with the collaboration of soprano Nuria Rial, will participate in the Festival of Spanish Music of Cadiz with a programme (still to be confirmed) by Nebra and Literes.

In December, Manel Valdivieso will direct the Orchestra. Together, they will offer a programme with works by Haendel (Dixit Dominus) that will be performed in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Seville and in a fourth place yet to be determined.
