The Évora Cathedral Cloister Music School, one of the most significant institutions for music education during the Renaissance and early baroque periods, was formally consolidated early in the 16th century, although evidence of cantor activities there date back to at least 1200.
23 to 30 August 2008. From 23 to 30 August the Academia de Música Antiga de Lisboa, an association set up in 1994 with the aim of providing a platform in Portugal for pre-19th century music, will be holding its International Early Music Summer School, which this year celebrates its 26th year.
4 to 7 October. Under the artistic direction of Pedro Teixeira, this four-day workshop for singers is based around the work of the Eborae Musica Polyphonic Choir, the aim of which is to revive music associated with the school of composers centred on Évora Cathedral in the 16th and 17th centuries.
