HISTORY
He sets up as violinmaker in Strasbourg in 1976 where he devotes himself to the construction and restoring quatuor instruments. He gets in 1978 the "prix départemental from the" Société d'Encouragement des Métiers d’Arts. From 1982 forward, he does regular work experience sheme by the master Etienne Vatelot expert violinmaker to improve himself the restoring old instruments and the expertise of old masters. Since, he builds up a private documentation (with snaps, mesures) of the studied instruments(violins violas and cellos). He completes his documentation within the museum and exhibition in Europa.
In 1992, Dominique Fréguin enlarges his investigation to baroque instruments. He meets the violist Jonathan Dunford, professor in the « Conservatoire National de Région ». He is stimulated by regular exchanges with with the baroque classes from CNR de Strasbourg. The CNR ordered him an English" treble viol" copy from the 17 th century. He realises the whole viols forming the consort, improving himself to French, English and German Models. These instruments are regulary showed in various Early music Festivals : in Stockstadt (Germany),Utrecht (Nederland), London (U.K.), Berlin (Germany) and Salon de la musique Ancienne and Musicora in Paris
He also works for Yasumasa Shimoyama violist and artistic director for two festivals (classic and baroque) in Yokohama. In February 2001, in collaboration with Philippe Foulon, Violist, he builds a disapeard instrument, described by Michel Corette in a treatise from 1781: the " viole d'Orphée" The viole d'Orphée was exhibited to the public in a show conference in the "salon de la musique" March 31 2001 in Paris.
