HISTORY
I make violins and I like to think that somebody plays good music with my instruments. I've learned this art from Maestro Otello Bignami who shared with me his passion for making violins.
Art School introduced me to Art. It stimulated my creativity and taught me to search deeper into my abilities. My meeting with Maestro Otello Bignami was fundamental because he was able to conciliate my manual abilities with my love for music.
I was born in Pescara (Italy) in 1960. After finishing Art School, I moved to Bologna and enrolled in the Bolognese Violin making School founded and directed by Otello Bignami. I worked under his supervision from 1979 to 1983. Later on, to complete my formation, I attended the restoration seminars conducted by Prof. Helwig Friedman at the National Germanic Museum in Nurenberg (Germany).
My two sons, Uilli and Filippo, also contributed to my formation, not so much artistically speaking but humanly as well.
Faithful to the passion transmitted to me by my Master and following the tradition of the Bolognese School, I make my instruments entirely by hand and finish them with the "secret varnish" passed on to me by Otello. EZIA DI LABIO
