   DIEGO FASOLIS
Diego Fasolis studied in Zurich with Erich Vollenwyder, piano with Jürg von Vintschger, voice with Carol Smith and conducting with Klaus Knall, obtaining four excellent diplomas. In addition to master-classes with internationally renowned artists, he studied organ and improvisation with Gaston Litaize in Paris and early music performance technique with Michael Radulescu in Cremona.

He is holder of several prizes and international honours, as first prize in Stresa (1983), first prize and scholarship from the Migros-Göhner Foundation (1983 and 1985), Hegar Prize (1984) and finalist in the Geneva Competition 1985. As Organist he performed at different times the complete works of Bach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Franck and Liszt. Also remarkable his engagement as composer.

Since 1986 he has worked at the Swiss Radio as musician and conductor, and in 1993 he was appointed resident director of the Swiss Radio-Television Ensembles. In this quality he has co-operated with many leaders such as S.Baudo, F. Brüggen, A. Campori, C. Halffter, W.D.Hauschild, I. Karabtchevsky, T. Koopman, G. Leonhard, A. Lombard, P. Maag, A. Parrot, H. Rilling, N. Santi.

Diego Fasolis combines his versatility and virtuosity with a keen sense of style which has earned applause and praise from both audience and critics that are following him in important international live performances, in radio and television broadcasting

Due to his knowledges in vocal and instrumental field he is often invited as a director from musical societies such as Arena di Verona, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, and as teacher and member of international juries.

With the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana he recorded works of Händel, Salieri, Mozart, Cherubini, Mendelssohn and Gossec with a particular attention to the performance praxis of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries applied to the "modern" Orchestras.

For the celebrations on Bach's 250th Anniversary of death he will represent Switzerland leading the Swiss Radio Choir in the European Project with Motets and Holy Cantatas and also with a video recording of Bach's version of the Stabat Mater of Pergolesi. In July he will begin a series of performances of Händel's Messiah, opening the Flandres Festival in Bruges.
