This association aims:
- To spread the heritage of Évora Cathedral Music School (16th and 17th centuries - Manuel Cardoso, Duarte Lobo, Diogo Dias Melgaz, Estêvão de Brito, Estêvão Lopes Morago, etc.)
- To stimulate the learning of singing, the musical education and the learning of playing several instruments.
- To create an open environment to the participation of all the community.
Several activities take place within the association, such as:
- Music for beginners (4 to 6 years old); - Children choir; Youth choir; Polyphonic choir; Musical notation learning; Singing; Piano; Guitar; Violin; Cello; Flute; Chamber music etc.
Three years ago it has been recognized by the Education Authorities as an official musical school named “Conservatório Regional de Évora – Eborae Mvsica”.
The polyphonic choir, whose repertory includes mainly the Évora Cathedral polyphony and also contemporary Portuguese composers, has appeared in several Concerts and Festivals in Portugal and abroad namely in Greece, Denmark, Eslováquia, Italy, Spain and others, having recorded two CD’s with Évora Cathedral School of Music repertory.
The Association organizes annually, among other activities: the International Workshop "Évora Cathedral Music School” with the orientation of some Conductors, between which Peter Phillips (Tallis Scholars) and Owen Rees (A Capella Portuguesa), at the beginning of the month of October; Workshops, such as, Gregorian Chant, under the orientation of Idalete Giga, and several Cycles of Concerts with music from different periods and composers, namely, "Music in the Cloister" during July and September, "Musicando" in Summer and "Music in Winter”.
