THE NATIONAL FLUTE ASSOCIATION
The National Flute Association, founded in 1973, is the largest flute organization in the world. It was founded to encourage a higher standard of artistic excellence for the flute, its performers, and its literature. It has more than 6,000 members from more than 50 countries, including leading soloists, orchestral players, college and university professors, adult amateurs and students of all ages.

It is the mission of the National Flute Association to further and promote the cause of the flute by encouraging: an increasingly higher standard of artistic excellence for the flute, its performers, and its literature; helpfulness and fellowship among members; a constantly greater contribution through the flute to the musical life and culture of all peoples; the creation and/or sponsorship of worthwhile projects relative to the flute and flute playing; the formulation of guidelines and establishment of criteria for the upgrading of flute teaching.

Benefits of membership include: subscription to The Flutist Quarterly magazine; free borrowing priveleges from the NFA Music Library, a collection of over 5,000 works; the opportunity to apply for competitions and master classes; advice from the pros on audition and career opportunities; annual featuring performances by great artists, seminars and masterclasses, and exhibits of flutes, music and accessories for sale; the opportunity to meet and mingle with flutists from all over the United States and abroad: professionals, students, and amateurs; teachers and performers; up-to-date information of flute innovation and technology; eligibility for low-cost instrument insurance; membership directory including names and addresses of all 6,000 members, domestic and international flute clubs, and commercial member listings.
