The goal of Seattle Baroque is to awaken contemporary audiences to the vitality of 17th- and 18th-century music through historically informed performance of both familiar and unknown works.
We hope through live performances, recordings and educational programs to foster an awareness and appreciation of this music, which not only illuminates past eras but provides a unique lens through which to view our own.
It is hard to believe how much Seattle Baroque has grown since the first concert in March of 1994. Nearly ten years of concerts and recordings have been possible because of the generosity of a diverse community.
This generosity comes in many forms; the generosity of the musicians, who share so much of their passion, intelligence and years of experience to be able to bring this rare and beautiful music into our world; the generosity of the Seattle Baroque staff, similarly profound; the generosity of the Volunteers, who also make a critical contribution when they help run the ticket booths, transport and house visiting artists, move harpsichords and much more; the generosity of donors at all levels, a necessary gift as well, without their assistance there would be no Seattle Baroque; and, finally, the audience, whose members show a special variety of generosity through their enthusiasm and their willingness to share their evenings with us.
