He completed his university degree at DAMS (Dipartimento di Arte, Musica e Spettacolo) in Bologna with a thesis on Opus 15 by the 17th-century musician M. Cazzati. He has overseen the publication and critical editions of numerous Italian keyboard works from the 17th and 18th centuries (music by M. Santucci, A. B. Della Ciaia; others by A. Scarlatti, G. B. Martini, and the Fiori Musicali of G. Frescobaldi in collaboration with A. Macinanti). He is a member of the editorial commission for the edition of the complete organ works of M. E. Bossi for the Edizioni Carrara of Bergamo.
The author of numerous essays on performance practice and organology, he has also overseen the first Italian translation of the important treatise Orgelprobe- Collaudo dell’Organo (1698) of Andreas Werckmeister (Turris Editrice, Cremona 1996). The winner of numerous competitions for composition, his works are published by Suvini-Zerboni (Milan); his "Dossologia Trinitaria per Grand’Organo" is published by Carrara (Bergamo 2000). He is a member of the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna as a composer, and of the Commissione Diocesana di Musica Sacra in the Diocese of Bologna. He has made numerous recordings for Tactus, Ermitage, Edipan, Dynamic, Bottega Discantica and Mondo Musica from Munich include the Primo and Secondo Libro of the Toccate d’Intavolatura d’organo by Claudio Merulo; and the Primo and Secondo Libro of the Ricercate by G.M. Trabaci.
He is the professor of organ and organ composition at the G. Frescobaldi Conservatory of Ferrara.
